In 1996, as Mickey Kydes career as a professional soccer player was coming to an end, Mickey was beginning to offer young
aspiring soccer players the chance to learn some of the many lessons he had picked up through his many years as a youth,
collegiate and professional soccer player. Through private lessons, summer camps and coaching a couple of teams, Mickey began
the process of turning his deep varied soccer knowledge and experiences into creative, fun and meaningful educational
opportunities for young aspiring soccer players.
Offering young players the opportunity to learn from the pros in a structured and developmentally appropriate learning
environment that focused on fun and developing a passion for the game, Mickey Kydes Pro Soccer Camp was the first, and is
longest lasting component of what would become Mickey Kydes Soccer. Over time as more players and parents began to see the
large and positive impact these weekly 1/2 day and full day camps had on the development of the players, Mickey Kydes Soccer
entered the larger scale task of developing a town recreation and travel program through its relationship with the Old
Greenwich/Riverside Soccer Program, and eventually the Westport Soccer Association. In both the OGRCC and
WSA, the recreation program is the foundation of success. These entry level programs are the beginning steps for both parents
and players to begin the long process of positive, developmentally appropriate, sports education.
Now with over 12 years of developing, implementing and managing only the highest quality youth soccer programs for every level
of player between the ages of 3 and 20, Mickey Kydes Soccer has positioned themselves as leaders in the fast growing business
of youth soccer. From helping the 3 year old navigate the first touch of the ball, to assisting town travel boards though the
difficult task of managing a large parent volunteer sports educational organization, Mickey Kydes Soccer is well equipped to
support individuals and groups through all aspects of the soccer experience.
